About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Meet weekly with Property Accounting management for strategic planning
  • Meet weekly with Property and Draw teams for planning and alignment
  • Communicate daily/weekly on important or pending items and process questions
  • Monitor emails and respond to requests within 24 hours
  • Oversee department staff and activities, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Provide technical assistance to property accountants
  • Liaise with other department leadership on technical issues
  • Develop and record department procedures
  • Assist with staff training and onboarding
  • Serve as primary client contact for questions, concerns, and open items
  • Prepare reports and schedules
  • Cover questions and deliverables for accountants who are out of office
  • Approve wires in the director’s absence
  • Complete monthly cybersecurity training
  • Support senior leadership on special projects
  • Manage team workflow, activities, and professional development
  • Direct department training and onboarding
  • Suggest processes and procedures to improve efficiency
  • Review financials prepared by accountants
  • Ensure client deadlines are met
  • Collaborate with Fund, Draw, and AP teams to resolve issues
  • Review lender reports before client submission
  • Facilitate monthly calls with regional property managers
  • Lead calls with the client’s accounting team
  • Review and revise accountants’ procedures
  • Review CAM reconciliations and assist with audit requests
  • Assist the Tax team during return preparation
  • Set department goals and develop workflow and manpower plans
  • Conduct quarterly team performance reviews
  • Manage 30/60/90-day reviews for new staff
  • Manage annual performance evaluations and goal planning

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Minimum of four years of experience in property accounting
  • Minimum two years in a supervisory role
  • CPA preferred or in process of completing CPA
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Yardi
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Organized and attentive to detail
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and writing skills
  • Ability to train, develop, provide constructive feedback, and mentor team members
  • Ability to set department goals, manage workflow, and allocate resources
  • Ability to develop team members and cultivate a positive department culture
