About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop understanding of financial close, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Process financial transactions, journal entries, and account reconciliations for monthly closings
  • Review and validate monthly financial information from domestic and international business units
  • Complete account roll-forwards and corporate business-information requests
  • Ensure required reserves are appropriately supported
  • Assist with internal-controls attestation over financial reporting and accounting
  • Oversee accounting treatment of fixed assets, intercompany activity, and cash reconciliations
  • Support capital projects and presentations with operations and project managers
  • Partner with tax and the Controller on transfer pricing strategies
  • Provide timely financial reporting and analysis of key metrics
  • Review department expenses and headcount activity
  • Analyze forecast and budget variances
  • Explain inventory movements, gross margin, and WIP aging value
  • Analyze gross margin, costing practices, and performance-improvement initiatives
  • Assist with monthly operational reviews covering productivity, yields, and work-in-progress
  • Assist the Controller with the 5 Year Plan, budget, and forecasts
  • Prepare budget and forecast schedules for management
  • Support Business Group activities and ad hoc requests
  • Support the IR Optics & Materials Division and Optical Solutions Business Unit

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience
  • Manufacturing accounting background, ideally in a vertically integrated manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ERP systems, specifically Advanced Oracle and Hyperion
  • MS Excel experience
  • Partnering with Shared Services and other functions outside of the accounting team
  • Cost accounting and inventory management experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of profit and loss statements, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Must be able to travel domestically and globally as required
  • Must follow site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards
  • Must meet applicable physical requirements
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
  • Two years of Financial Planning & Analysis experience preferred
