About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Conduct analysis and deep dives on ambiguous business problems, producing insights and recommendations for team decision-making
Own a broad scope of data and metrics, from core logging through presentation of data visualizations
Guide code reviews and provide SQL and Python expertise
Create and maintain well-maintained ETL jobs
Ensure statistical rigor in experimentation and causal analyses
Partner with Product, Engineering, and Design to influence the roadmap and understand users
Define and instrument key metrics, build measurement and causal frameworks, and translate insights into product strategy and shipped improvements
Improve customer experience across Coinbase consumer products, including spot and advanced trading, yield, Coinbase One, international expansion, prediction markets, and equities trading

Requirements

What you’ll need

BA/BS in a quantitative field (e.g., Math, Stats, Physics, or Computer Science) with ≥5+ years of relevant experience, or a PhD in a quantitative field with ≥3+ years of relevant experience
Demonstrated experience driving impactful data science projects in ambiguous problem spaces
Ability to influence external stakeholders by synthesizing data learnings into compelling stories
Practical expertise applying complex modeling frameworks to business problems
Professional experience using SQL and Python
Experience working with digital products in an iterative development cycle
Clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, and efficient execution
Ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots (e.g., LibreChat, Gemini, Glean), apply human-in-the-loop practices, and deliver business-ready outputs
