About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define the technical strategy for Coinbase's native app development future
- Lead the AI-assisted migration approach using agent swarms, automated dual-repository synchronization, and automated feedback loops
- Architect a paved-road native framework in Swift and Kotlin for iOS and Android
- Enable mobile contributors to work productively across both iOS and Android codebases
- Partner with product, design, and engineering leadership to drive organizational readiness
- Resolve cross-team blockers and de-escalate conflict during the dual-app transition
- Hold peer leaders accountable to high architectural standards

Requirements
What you’ll need- 12+ years of software engineering experience
- Deep expertise in iOS or Android native mobile development (Swift/iOS or Kotlin/Android)
- Strong working proficiency in the other mobile platform
- Experience operating across own and adjacent team codebases
- Track record of owning outcomes spanning 2–3+ teams with business impact
- Experience with multi-phase platform migrations or rewrites at scale
- Deep mobile performance expertise across iOS and Android, including cold start optimization, frame stability, scroll jank elimination, and device-tier profiling
- Experience setting architectural standards and defining ownership boundaries
- Proven influence without authority at senior levels
- Experience changing the technical direction of teams outside one's own
- Experience securing leadership alignment on ambiguous, high-stakes decisions
- Experience resolving cross-team blockers
- Experience designing AI-native engineering workflows adopted across teams
- Experience with LLM-driven code generation, agent-based automation, or reusable automation patterns
- Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight and measurable workflow efficiency, cost, and quality gains
