About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Set the research vision and practice across Coinbase Platform systems, tools, and infrastructure
Define research strategy, prioritization, and engagement models connecting customer insight to product and design decisions
Own and run Platform’s recurring internal CSAT program, including survey design, cadence, analysis, and leadership reporting
Conduct and lead generative, evaluative, and mixed-methods research with engineers, technical leads, product managers, and end customers
Address ambiguous research problems across Identity, Payments, Developer Experience, internal tooling, and compliance
Drive high-quality design deliverables, including polished prototypes, interaction flows, and visual storytelling
Partner with senior product, design, and engineering leaders to influence roadmaps and investment decisions
Improve design consistency and integrity, contribute to design systems, and build scalable research repositories and frameworks
Coach and mentor designers and product partners on research rigor and design craft

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of professional experience in user research and product design
Experience setting research vision and leading research for complex, technical, or platform-scale products and systems
Ability to operate strategically and influence senior cross-functional and executive stakeholders through research-driven insights and compelling design presentations
Expert-level proficiency in design and prototyping tools, including Figma or equivalent
Strong command of qualitative research methods
Judgment about which research methods fit different questions
Ability to improve methods and introduce new approaches for ambiguous problems
Track record of building research practices, operating models, or measurement programs such as recurring CSAT or voice-of-customer programs
Experience driving design system adoption and contribution across a product area
Ability to utilize generative AI responsibly with human oversight
Must be based in the USA
