About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monitor, support, and troubleshoot incidents related to enterprise infrastructure
- Apply patches to supported infrastructure to mitigate risk and enhance performance
- Ensure successful backups and platform recoverability
- Maintain security procedures and policies established by engineers
- Leverage IT technologies for rapid deployment and efficient capacity/utilization management
- Tune operating system and application performance
- Design, plan, and execute change-management activities during evenings, weekends, or as required
- Assist systems engineers with technical standards and documentation
- Identify and evaluate new products
- Provide resolutions for network problems
- Collaborate with systems engineering staff on cloud technologies and standard operating procedures
- Work with third-party vendors on troubleshooting and ticket escalation
- Maintain secure, reliable, highly available enterprise infrastructure and hosted applications aligned with service-level expectations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 5–10 years of hands-on experience implementing and managing IT technologies
- Operations experience in 24x7x365 environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to thoroughly document implementations, modifications, and removals
- Willingness to work and participate in an on-call rotation
- Bachelor of Science, Computer Science, or MIS degree or equivalent experience
- Experience supporting and managing Windows Servers in enterprise environments
- Strong experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace cloud platforms and associated technologies such as Intune, SharePoint, and Security
- Strong experience managing and administering Microsoft technologies such as AD, DNS, DHCP, and CA
- Experience supporting and managing hypervisor platforms including VMware and Hyper-V
- Familiarity with hyperconverged platforms including HPE, Dell, VxRail, and Nutanix
- Basic understanding of scripting tools such as PowerShell, with a goal to acquire scripting proficiencies
- Desire to learn Linux operating systems and become a proficient Linux Administrator
- Experience supporting and managing monitoring systems and backup platforms is a plus
- Experience with educational platforms is a plus
