About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and/or update course syllabus using approved syllabus template
  • Prepare and deliver course materials and learning assessments in assigned format (in-person, online or hybrid)
  • Utilize the Canvas Learning Management System as the course support platform for in-person courses and as the delivery platform for online and hybrid courses
  • Communicate teaching objectives, specific outcomes, and grading policies to students
  • Evaluate student achievement and assign grades
  • Post final student grades to the transcript system no later than 2 weeks after the last course meeting
  • Stay current regarding the professional body of knowledge in the field of practice
  • Participate in required orientations and instructor training programs
  • Use subject-matter expertise and additional resources to enhance the curriculum
  • Design interactive and motivational classroom activities
  • Update materials and monitor course evaluations to improve the curriculum
  • Develop OSHA written plans and training/documentation programs
  • Conduct safety and health audits
  • Provide safety training materials for weekly toolbox sessions
  • Conduct OSHA-required safety training classes
  • Teach new trainees company policies and regulations
  • Assist in delivering safety training on behind-the-wheel tasks
  • Teach OSHA mission and standards, employer responsibilities, workers’ rights/responsibilities, enforcing standards, reporting safety hazards, and whistleblower protection

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced degree from an accredited institution
  • Experience designing/revising curriculum and measuring student performance
  • College-level teaching experience (or the corporate equivalent)
  • Current knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in subject area
  • Commitment to the highest level of academic standards and integrity
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey conceptual and complex ideas and information
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in (or willingness to learn) the use of instructional technology and online teaching tools
  • Current participation in professional associations
  • OSHA #501 Trainer course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry
  • OSHA #511 and a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist
  • U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Applicants may be required to undergo a criminal background check
  • Applicants may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks
