About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Process deposit, loan, and general ledger account activities using an image-based system
- Perfect transactional data and monitor multiple input and output channels
- Create and track output files to post transactions and clear transit work
- Balance work streams and generate associated reporting
- Process item-processing deposit transactions accurately and timely
- Correct errors using image-based processing solutions
- Operate Check 21 scanning equipment and troubleshoot capture issues via phone and email
- Verify transmittals to work bundles and prepare cash letters and endpoint summaries
- Escalate production issues to the Item Processing lead or manager
- Complete department production spreadsheets, metrics, and trending
- Direct junior associates in day-to-day work activities as needed
- Support internal customers via phone and email
- Balance and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Reconcile nonpost and stop payment reports, returned and NSF items
- Research and reconcile out-of-balance customer transactions
- Process incoming and outgoing large return item notifications
- Decide fraud product exceptions
- Prepare outgoing foreign item cash and adjustment letters
- Perform data entry and uploads
- Process research information, adjustment, and affidavit requests
- Process depository corrections and check adjustments
- Maintain compliance with bank regulations, policies, procedures, and required training
- Maintain working knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other applicable regulations
- Coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as a subject matter expert when asked
- Foster Columbia corporate culture and support the vision to become “Business Bank of Choice”
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3-5 years of banking experience or equivalent (Required)
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and within a team with minimal direction
- Ability to use basic office equipment and 10-key by touch
- Ability to work flexible hours
- PC literacy in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Windows
- Related experience and/or product knowledge
- H.S. Diploma/GED (preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
- Occasional travel
