About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and lead middle market banking activity and production in an assigned market
  • Oversee a portfolio of approximately $500–800MM serving clients with $15+MM annual revenue
  • Manage a team of Middle Market Relationship Managers
  • Meet strategic objectives, production goals, and client needs
  • Develop and execute market strategy aligned with the Bank's strategic goals
  • Serve as the face of the bank for the market
  • Personally produce and build internal and external partnerships to attract business relationships
  • Manage the P&L of an assigned market and establish production goals and strategies
  • Maintain and grow a quality Middle Market Banking portfolio through prudent risk and portfolio management
  • Develop and nurture community relationships and participate in community/market events, organizations, and board memberships
  • Develop and implement cross-selling strategies with Bank partners
  • Grant credit approvals within delegated authorities and manage credit risk within the market
  • Identify, hire, manage, motivate, and retain top talent
  • Support professional development of associates within the assigned market
  • Maintain compliance with bank regulations, policies, procedures, and required training
  • Maintain working knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other applicable regulations
  • Coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as a subject matter expert
  • Foster the Columbia corporate culture and model positive initiative
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4-7 years prior experience in middle market, commercial, or corporate lending (Required)
  • 4-7 years prior management experience leading a production team and handling employee and customer relations issues (Preferred)
  • Experience developing and implementing a market strategy to achieve results/goals
  • Excellent relationship management and business development abilities
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Sales skills and credit acumen
  • Experience directing and leading a team with responsibility for strategic planning, goal setting, budget, and performance management
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with executive levels, including controversial situations, customer negotiations, and influencing and persuading
  • Experience managing and developing others and building and maintaining relationships
  • Commitment to attracting, motivating, and retaining top talent
  • Proven track record developing new clients and business, including prospecting, sourcing, and networking
  • Ability to communicate effectively with small and large audiences, including high-level customer presentations to CFOs, CEOs, and other executives
  • Excellent planning and organization skills with adaptability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite, with ability to learn new business software
  • Frequent travel requirements
