About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and execute strategic business development initiatives to acquire new fiduciary and non-consumer deposit relationships
  • Expand and deepen existing client partnerships
  • Identify, target, and engage Public, Corporate, Commercial, and Commercial Real Estate prospects through consultative outreach
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of fiduciary-focused deposit relationships
  • Drive profitable deposit growth, share of wallet, and expansion of existing business relationships
  • Prospect in key industries for large deposit relationships using working capital assessments
  • Source low-cost deposits and core fee-income solutions
  • Attend industry conferences and business development events
  • Build networks of prospects, referrals, and centers of influence
  • Collaborate with and indirectly manage key business partners to develop complete client relationships
  • Build and maintain a portfolio of non-consumer deposit customers through referrals and self-sourcing
  • Manage complex customer relationships and analyze relevant industrial, commercial, economic, and financial conditions
  • Analyze customer deposit needs and recommend strategic solutions
  • Manage pricing strategy and apply Account Analysis billing systems for treasury management products
  • Collaborate with servicing and operations teams to provide operational support
  • Maintain knowledge of products, services, competitors, and competitive offerings
  • Promote and cross-market bank products and services
  • Comply with bank regulations, policies, procedures, training, and applicable banking regulations
  • Coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as a subject matter expert when requested
  • Foster Columbia’s corporate culture and support the vision to become “Business Bank of Choice”
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • More than 10 years of prior business development and/or relationship management experience for a Retail/Commercial Bank
  • Advanced knowledge of business development, prospecting, and the total product set, including credit, capital markets, cash management, and Institutional Services & Asset Management
  • Strong relationship management, business development, analytical, problem-solving, sales, credit, and credit-quality skills
  • Expert knowledge of business development and marketing techniques, bank lending policies and practices, bank operations and services, federal and state banking regulations, and profitability measurement structures
  • Advanced knowledge of deposit and lending products and services
  • Proven success developing new clients and business through prospecting, sourcing, and networking
  • Strong negotiating and closing skills
  • Ability to create and deliver client presentations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups across the company
  • Proficiency with personal computers and software such as Word and Excel
  • Ability or interest in training and presenting to small and large audiences
  • Frequent travel required
