About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide new business through marketing programs involving professionals and potential business sources
- Provide exceptional service to existing trust clients
- Act as the quarterback for relationships related to client subject matter requirements
- Perform written and verbal communication tasks and projects
- Provide in-house expertise on trust administration issues
- Book new business and retain business through cross-selling
- Call on assigned branches regularly for branch education in trust products
- Participate in community activities to form business relationships with candidates for trust services
- Administer accounts, including maintaining account files
- Help clients achieve planned account goals within an acceptable level of risk
- Administer moderately complex relationships
- Demonstrate compliance with bank regulations and keep current on regulatory changes
- Follow Bank policies, procedures, and compliance regulations, and complete required training
- Maintain working knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other applicable regulations
- Coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as a subject matter expert when requested
- Foster Columbia’s corporate culture and act as a positive example
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree; practical trust experience is referenced, and a bachelor’s degree is preferred
- Cannon or other training, required
- 5 years of Trust Officer experience, required
- 5 years of experience managing moderately complex, multi-tiered trust relationships
- Knowledge and understanding of the trust data processing system, trust accounting, and estate tax law
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Good analytical abilities for clients’ estate planning and investment issues
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently
- Basic knowledge of tax preparation, particularly fiduciary income tax and estate tax returns
- Ability to use personal computers, Windows, and related software applications
- Basic/working knowledge of the commercial banking environment and trust company interfaces with commercial affiliates
- Ability to develop a referral network to generate new business
- Ability to facilitate subject matter expertise on estate planning strategies
- Strong presentation or public speaking skills
- Ability to write topics as a subject matter expert
- Strategic thinking on business initiatives that drive new business goals
- Passed the CFTA Level 1 test, required
- Occasional travel
