About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support and develop controls and electrical specifications for new and existing equipment
  • Create, modify, and support PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs
  • Design schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layout drawings, and other CAD documentation
  • Design and interpret PLC code for customized material handling applications
  • Specify and verify controls requirements for new equipment and retrofits
  • Maintain accurate controls drawings and documentation
  • Perform PLC programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Partner with engineers on project accuracy, design, standards, and documentation
  • Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule
  • Create bills of materials for control enclosures, components, and wire
  • Serve as a technical resource for internal and external customers and production
  • Participate in cross-functional process, productivity, quality, and cost-improvement initiatives
  • Inspect shop panels for correct wiring and setup
  • Resolve engineering issues during fabrication, assembly, and service
  • Travel to customer sites to start up automated systems, adjust drives and control devices, perform point-to-point wire checkout, and check out PLC code

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required
  • 2+ years’ experience with electrical systems or manufacturing experience required
  • 2+ years’ experience working with CAD Electrical required
  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD and Enterprise Resource Planning systems
  • Ability to design and interpret PLC code
  • Ability to perform PLC programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to build relationships internally and externally
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and approach tasks with urgency
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and safety procedures
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites up to 30%
