About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee the direct work of Helpers, Apprentices, and Journeyman electricians
  • Install, alter, and repair electrical systems, conductors, associated materials, and equipment
  • Lead, train, mentor, and evaluate crew members
  • Lead and mentor Journeyman, Helpers, and Apprentices on the job site
  • Work alongside the crew and ensure high-quality work
  • Assist in developing an effective manpower schedule
  • Develop material lists from layouts, area prints, and job-site demands and communicate them to supervision
  • Help achieve production and budget goals by understanding required work and communicating it to the team
  • Ensure crew work complies with local and NEC guidelines
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit
  • Install and terminate electrical devices, fixtures, panel boards, branch circuit, and feeder conductors
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of circuitry
  • Read and understand project specifications, blueprints, and schematics
  • Lay out small work areas from electrical drawings and project documents, including underground layout
  • Determine wire, conduit, and junction box sizing
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of lighting and general power circuits
  • Work under the guidance of a senior-level Foreman or Superintendent

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7-10 years of experience performing electrical construction in commercial and/or industrial environments
  • Leadership abilities and capability to lead, mentor, and coach teams of roughly five Helpers, Apprentices, and Journeyman Electricians
  • Thorough understanding of a small, assigned scope of work
  • Ability to recognize work outside assigned scope
  • Basic communication and negotiation skills with other trades and trade supervisors
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn other trades' blueprints and contract-related documents
  • Basic understanding of customer relationships and customer satisfaction
  • Intermediate understanding of developing, reading, and following construction schedules
  • Ability to learn and comprehend BlueBeam, Navisworks, and related programs
  • Participation in leadership training when available
  • Above-average leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • All tools required by company policy and ability to use them
  • Ability to work project schedules including weekends and overtime
  • Interest and aptitude to learn job-related material through oral instruction and observation
  • Team-player mentality, ability to follow directions, cooperate, and work safely
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and mathematical ability
  • Ability to learn basic construction documents
  • Willingness to participate in field training, OJT, classroom-based, or virtual
