About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee the direct work of Helpers, Apprentices, and Journeyman electricians
- Lead, train, mentor, and evaluate crew members
- Perform installation, alteration, and repair of electrical systems, conductors, materials, and equipment
- Lead and mentor Journeyman, Helpers, and Apprentices on the job site
- Work alongside the crew and ensure high-quality work
- Assist in developing effective manpower schedules
- Develop material lists from layouts, area prints, and job-site demands and communicate them to supervision
- Help achieve production and budget goals by understanding work requirements and communicating them to the team
- Ensure crew work complies with local and NEC guidelines
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit
- Install and terminate electrical devices, fixtures, panel boards, branch circuit, and feeder conductors
- Demonstrate working knowledge of circuitry
- Read and understand project specifications, blueprints, and schematics
- Lay out small work areas from electrical drawings and project documents, including underground layout
- Determine wire, conduit, and junction box sizing
- Perform basic troubleshooting of lighting and general power circuits
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7-10 years of experience performing electrical construction in commercial and/or industrial environments
- Leadership abilities and capability to lead, mentor, and coach teams of roughly five Helpers, Apprentices, and Journeyman Electricians
- Thorough understanding of a small, assigned scope of work
- Ability to recognize work outside the assigned scope
- Basic communication with other trades and negotiation of work assignments with trade supervisors
- Aptitude and willingness to learn to read and understand other trades’ blueprints and contract-related documents
- Basic understanding of customer relationships and customer satisfaction
- Intermediate understanding of developing, reading, and following construction schedules
- Ability to learn and comprehend BlueBeam, Navisworks, and related programs
- Active participation in leadership training when available
- Above-average leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- All tools required by company policy and ability to use them
- Ability to work project schedules including weekends and overtime
- Interest and aptitude for learning job-related material through oral instruction and observation
- Team-player mentality, ability to follow directions, work cooperatively, and work safely
- Basic mechanical aptitude and mathematical ability
- Ability to learn to read basic construction documents
- Willingness to participate in field training, OJT, classroom-based, or virtual
