About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Define the technical vision for the domain and engage with Staff Engineers on projects aligned with the platform vision
Design and implement high-quality, scalable, highly available solutions to complex and ambiguous problems
Own end-to-end technical project execution, including scoping, sequencing, forecasting ECDs and driving delivery toward deadlines
Participate in RFCs and architectural discussions
Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies and processes to solve business problems
Serve as a subject-matter expert and influence design decisions and technical direction
Monitor team services and recommend data-driven optimizations
Advocate for practices and implement tooling that improves CI/CD robustness and application development and deployment
Drive continuous improvement across infrastructure and systems, including post-mortems
Mentor multiple mentees and provide feedback to teammates
Drive team-level education and documentation practices
Build relationships with partner teams to ensure cross-functional alignment

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of programming experience in backend languages
Strong experience with PHP required
Experience with Python, GoLang, Java or a similar programming language is a bonus
Extensive experience with MySQL or a similar technology
Strong understanding of database schema design, caching and scalability
Strong understanding of communication protocols such as TCP and gRPC
Strong understanding of distributed systems
Ability to perform time and memory complexity analysis
Experience with caching technologies such as Redis or Memcached
DevOps experience highly preferred
Solid understanding of Linux operating systems
Experience with modern CI/CD and containerization tools such as Docker
Experience with cloud solutions; GCP highly preferred
Experience with full-stack observability frameworks and tools; OTel highly preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
BS or higher degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
