About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the BI and Data platform technically
  • Build a new BI and Data platform from the ground up
  • Evaluate and select the technology stack
  • Define the target architecture and data models
  • Build data pipelines, the semantic layer and initial dashboards
  • Drive the platform into production
  • Work within the existing BI organization and directly with the Head of BI
  • Collaborate with engineering, product and business stakeholders
  • Independently own projects from architecture and design through implementation and production

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years in Data Engineering, BI Engineering, Analytics Engineering or Business Intelligence
  • Proven experience building or significantly contributing to a modern data/BI platform
  • Advanced SQL and extensive hands-on work on large and complex datasets
  • Strong hands-on experience with ETL/ELT architectures, data pipelines and data transformation
  • Strong understanding of data warehouse architecture and dimensional/data modeling
  • Hands-on Snowflake experience within the last 3 years; Snowflake experience in a 2023-or-later role required
  • Experience with BigQuery, Redshift or Databricks is additive, not a substitute for Snowflake
  • Experience with dbt and Airflow/Astronomer or equivalent
  • Experience with a BI platform such as Looker, Power BI or Tableau, including semantic-layer and standardized KPI framework design
  • Good Python skills for data processing, automation and integration
  • Experience integrating databases, APIs, event data and third-party sources
  • Strong grasp of data quality, governance, lineage, monitoring and analytical-engineering best practice
  • Understanding of batch versus real-time/near-real-time data architectures
  • Ability to evaluate technologies and make architecture decisions based on business requirements, scalability, maintainability and cost
  • Ability to independently own a project from architecture and design through implementation and production
  • Strong communication with technical and business stakeholders
  • Comfortable in a fast-changing environment where platforms, processes and standards are still being established
  • Gambling/iGaming industry experience is a major advantage
  • Experience with sports betting, casino, player behaviour, payments, CRM, bonuses, acquisition or risk/fraud data is advantageous
  • Familiarity with gaming KPIs including GGR, NGR, ARPU, LTV, retention, churn, FTD, conversion, wagering, deposits and player segmentation
  • Experience supporting multiple brands, countries or operations with differing data structures and business processes
  • Hands-on Looker/LookML and GCP experience
  • Event-driven or streaming architecture experience
  • CI/CD and software-engineering practices for data platforms
  • Experience supporting machine learning, predictive analytics or AI-driven analytics use cases
  • Participation in data-platform technology evaluation or migration projects
