About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide broad support for Common App’s enterprise compliance program.
- Work with the Legal team and organizational leadership to execute compliance programs sustainably and consistently.
- Support enterprise compliance and risk programs operationally and administratively.
- Oversee policy management and regulatory deadline tracking.
- Prepare cases for fraud and whistleblower programs.
- Serve as a key liaison for internal legal and compliance inquiries.
- Interact with departments, leadership, and external advisors to strengthen governance and reduce risk.
- Report to the Associate General Counsel.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Candidates must live in the United States.
- Willing to travel to attend twice annual Common App Retreat.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Risk Management, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4–6 years of progressive experience in compliance, risk management, or legal operations.
- Strong foundational knowledge of conducting investigations, compliance, and administrative procedures.
- Solid business and legal acumen with sound judgment and ability to deliver on tight deadlines.
- Strong administrative experience including request intake, email review and management, data entry, and task tracking and management.
- Ability to take initiative, prioritize, and manage competing tasks effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Superior written and verbal communication; ability to summarize complicated issues clearly and succinctly.
- Experience with case management, due diligence, and communication.
- Ability to prepare and develop reports, presentations, and briefings for leadership.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to think independently, identify deficiencies, and contribute solutions.
- High degree of discretion, judgment, and commitment to confidentiality.
- Ability to interpret meaningful themes from quantitative and qualitative data and steward confidential or sensitive information.
- Ability to communicate complex financial data and concepts concisely to varied audiences.
- Ideal: compliance or risk management certification such as CCEP, CFE, CRM, or RIMS-CRMP.
- Ideal: experience supporting Legal in nonprofit, technology, or higher education.
- Ideal: experience in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Ideal: sensitivity to corporate compliance functions and ability to balance administrative and substantive work.
- Ideal: effective presentation skills in one-on-one, small-group, and large-group settings.
- Passion for higher education is a plus.
