About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Report to the Senior Director of Technology Strategy
  • Work as part of a developer team designing and developing web-based and mobile software products
  • Assist with software architecture design
  • Implement high-quality software products serving the Common App community
  • Plan, develop, modify, and test software components using .NET technologies
  • Work within Amazon Web Services and an Agile development environment
  • Create new products and enhance existing software systems
  • Use tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to deliver .NET and Angular solutions at accelerated velocity

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must live in the United States or its territories
  • Willingness and ability to travel for periodic in-person events, including semi-annual Common App retreats, department retreats, and strategic leadership sessions
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science
  • 4–6 years of experience in software development/technical support jobs
  • Comfortable using AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot
  • Familiarity with Agentic Frameworks, MCP/Model Context Protocol, tool-calling schemas, and context window optimization
  • Ability to design complex System Prompts and RAG-style workflows
  • Intermediate ability to audit AI code for technical debt, security issues, and architectural patterns
  • Ability to use Claude Design, Figma Make, or similar tools for rapid functional prototyping
  • Proficiency in Python or TypeScript
  • Proficiency in .NET Core 2+, HTML5, CSS3, and C#
  • Proficiency in Angular 2+ and Visual Studio Code
  • Proficiency with SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services, including DynamoDB, Redis, RDS, and Lambda
  • Proficiency with GitHub/version control
  • Ability to evaluate Proofs of Concept and make recommendations
  • Understanding of OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities and secure coding practices
  • Effective verbal and written communication and team collaboration skills
  • AWS Certified Developer preferred
  • Experience with AWS, AWS .NET SDK, Angular state management/NGRX, Entity Framework or another ORM, Google Analytics, Jenkins, and production-grade AI agents or tool-calling integrations preferred
  • Passion for higher education is a plus
