About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with suppliers to improve quality, delivery, manufacturing, and inventory performance
  • Conduct new supplier audits and review technical quality documentation
  • Conduct onsite supplier visits for problem-solving, root cause analysis, cross-functional resolution, and development
  • Manage quality issues and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
  • Support procurement and engineering activities, including quality control, defining quality and technical requirements, supplier selection, and supplier relationship management
  • Develop and implement reliability improvements in designs and manufacturing
  • Provide technical reviews and advice on drawings, specifications, and material requirements
  • Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing, design, operations, subject matter experts, and technicians to solve material and processing challenges
  • Identify process gaps, define corrective actions, and hold vendors accountable to timelines
  • Facilitate PFMEA and applicable APQP processes
  • Support manufacturing instructions documenting quality-critical characteristics
  • Spend extended periods onsite at vendors and participate in supplier plant start-ups
  • Project-manage new production line and plant launches as the molten salt supply chain scales
  • Expedite new molten salt production lines and plants according to CFS business needs
  • Adhere to supply chain, procurement, intellectual property, and export compliance policies
  • Develop quality signals and processes with production operations, inspection, shipping/receiving, and engineering teams
  • Drive improvements to system reliability, manufacturability, and efficiency
  • Lead supplier quality failure investigations and mitigate root causes
  • Identify risk-reduction and design/process simplification opportunities
  • Review acceptance and qualification of new supplier capabilities
  • Monitor supplier capabilities for unknown risks and resolve issues
  • Assess supplier-process changes and cross-functional impacts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Engineering
  • 6+ years’ related work experience in a manufacturing
  • Experience with chemical plants
  • Supplier management experience
  • Deep manufacturing, industrial engineering, process expertise, and ability to learn new parts and systems quickly
  • Experience performing Supplier Assessments & Audits, including Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, AS 9100, and IATF 16949
  • Experience with PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, capacity analysis, and Lean Six Sigma initiatives
  • Ability to design, establish, and implement supplier quality improvement processes and procedures
  • Technical knowledge of 2D blueprints and model drawings
  • Knowledge of supplier quality processes, including PPAP, APQP, first article inspection reports, supplier relationship management, coordination, and communication
  • Ability to perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods
  • Willingness to travel or work required nights, weekends, or on-call regularly
  • Ability to work in a facility containing industrial hazards, including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
  • Creative negotiating, communication, collaboration, prioritization, customer service, problem-solving, judgment, and ability to work under pressure
