About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead operational services covering waste collection, management of the network of 8 recycling centres, and logistics
- Assist elected officials in finalising the territory's waste collection and service-pricing strategy, including the modernisation of recycling centres
- Translate strategic directions into operational planning while monitoring regulatory developments and budget constraints
- Define prevention policies with the Climate, Adaptation and Prevention Directorate and the Sustainable Economies Directorate
- Supervise the Directorate's budget with the Administrative, Financial and User Relations Unit
- Represent the Urban Community to partners, elected officials, and users
- Lead consultation with municipalities
- Manage and coordinate teams with a continuous focus on safety and improvement
- Lead studies and public contracts related to operations, maintenance, and equipment works
- Organise and manage decision-making and monitoring bodies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree (BAC+5 equivalent) in environmental studies, circular economy, or a related field
- Solid professional management experience, ideally in local government
- Knowledge of public-sector operations
- Thorough knowledge of waste-management regulations
- Knowledge of waste treatment and recovery streams
- Ability to lead change
- Strategic and pragmatic mindset, combining environmental ambition with operational feasibility
- Ability to engage teams and unite them around ambitious projects
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in IT and office software
- Category B driving licence
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation from Monday to Saturday, approximately every 4 to 6 weeks
