About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide direct nursing services to students within the scope of LPN licensure and under clinical supervision
  • Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, BMI, vision screening results, and other clinical information
  • Perform student health assessments and report abnormal findings
  • Assist with illness, injury, urgent situations, and emergency response
  • Administer medications and treatments according to orders, policies, and regulations
  • Monitor medication recipients and maintain medication administration records
  • Support chronic disease management and individualized care plans
  • Assist students and families with healthcare services and community resources
  • Conduct preventive health screenings and support oral health, immunization compliance, and health promotion initiatives
  • Facilitate and support telehealth visits, including preparation and equipment checks
  • Liaise and collaborate with students, families, school personnel, healthcare providers, counselors, teachers, and community partners
  • Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC and comply with HIPAA, FERPA, grant requirements, policies, and regulations
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement, performance improvement, data collection, reporting, meetings, training, and competency assessments
  • Maintain clinical supplies, equipment, inventory, and organized treatment areas
  • Follow infection prevention, safety, and emergency preparedness procedures
  • Support student enrollment, consent form collection, operational workflows, and program initiatives
  • Maintain confidentiality and support CHI’s mission, values, and commitment to health equity
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing Program
  • Current Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • CPR certification required
  • Knowledge of pediatric and adolescent health issues
  • Proficiency in electronic health record documentation
  • Ability to work independently within established protocols and scope of practice
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience preferred
  • Experience in pediatrics, family medicine, community health, public health, school health, ambulatory care, or primary care preferred
  • Experience working with pediatric and adolescent populations preferred
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), school-based health program, public health department, or community health setting preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish and/or English/Haitian Creole preferred
