About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in residential or community-based settings
  • Assist individuals to live a self-directed life and with activities of daily living
  • Implement individualized programming and facilitate functional, social, and daily living skills instruction
  • Promote independence, interdependence, and community integration
  • Develop relationships that promote individuals’ emotional, physical, and personal well-being
  • Teach life skills including interaction with others, cooking, housekeeping, money management, and personal hygiene
  • Support individuals’ preferences, interests, goals, and independence through guidance, instruction, and role modeling
  • Complete required documentation, including electronic health records, accurately and timely
  • Collaborate with agencies, family members, and other service providers; participate in meetings
  • Assist with arranging medical care and following healthcare recommendations and dietary guidelines
  • Conduct fire drills, manage emergency situations, and provide emergency coverage
  • Report directly to the Program Supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle to attend trainings, meetings, and/or transport individuals to appointments
  • Ability to administer medication and treatment as permitted under regulations
  • Weekend availability
  • No experience necessary
