About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead Community Solutions’ AI work in the field
  • Guide the building and shipping of AI tools for testing and refinement within a network of 170+ communities
  • Inform strategy for moving high-impact prototypes into adoption across the network
  • Apply AI principles ensuring a human remains in the decision loop and protecting people’s dignity and data
  • Review AI tools throughout development and deployment to control for bias
  • Oversee the AI portfolio and direct AI-related work of the Principal of Policy and Evaluation, Data Scientist, and program manager
  • Develop a go-to-market strategy budget for approval by the Executive Team and Board of Directors
  • Determine strategies for developing and testing AI tools and prototypes
  • Own the technical architecture for the AI portfolio
  • Decide what to build in-house versus partner on or contract out
  • Establish privacy-safe, local deployment approaches for tools touching client data
  • Manage technology partner relationships and pursue corporate AI programs, accelerators, and philanthropy opportunities
  • Track the AI-for-good landscape and carry key build and implementation relationships
  • Oversee partner-community pilots, gather feedback, and determine scale strategies
  • Guide translation of tools into practitioner-accessible documentation and training

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated ability to build with current AI tools and ship working software
  • Comfort across the stack, APIs, prototyping, and data work
  • Familiarity with model deployment, security, and compliance is a strong plus
  • Product judgment and a track record of knowing what is worth building
  • Experience managing partnerships with external organizations, ideally including technology or funding partners
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving situations and a bias toward shipping over planning
  • Commitment to Community Solutions’ mission
  • Familiarity with homelessness or human services data is a plus, or ability to learn it fast
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work credibly with field users, technology partners and funders
