About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own and deliver the Frozen category strategy to drive sustainable growth and support commercial objectives.
- Take accountability for category sales, margin, markdown, waste and stock performance.
- Source surplus stock opportunities and build a pipeline of new opportunities.
- Make buying and trading decisions on pricing, ranging, stock management and product selection using market insight, data and member demand.
- Build and negotiate trusted relationships with existing and prospective partners.
- Collaborate with Merchandising, Supply Chain, Operations and Retail to ensure effective product flow and availability.
- Visit stores to understand category performance, gather feedback and improve availability, product choice and member experience.
- Monitor budgets, identify risks and opportunities, and drive continuous improvement.
- Support category innovation and broaden the Frozen offering.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Significant experience in Buying, Category Management or Commercial Trading.
- Proven track record of delivering sales, margin and profit growth.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience analysing category performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Excellent negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain successful supplier relationships.
- Strong analytical skills, with ability to turn data and insight into practical commercial actions.
- Experience working collaboratively across different functions and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent planning, organisation and prioritisation skills, with ability to manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Confidence to balance commercial opportunities with operational requirements and business priorities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships internally and externally.
- Experience within grocery retail, FMCG, food manufacturing or surplus stock management.
- Experience managing or influencing category profit and loss (P&L) performance.
- Understanding of supply chain, merchandising and retail operations.
- Knowledge of frozen food products, suppliers and market trends.
