About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work with SQL Server, supporting operations, monitoring, maintenance, and support activities for database environments
  • Perform backup and restore routines in accordance with established procedures
  • Monitor SQL Server jobs, alerts, logs, and events
  • Perform basic maintenance, including index rebuilds/reorganizations and statistics updates
  • Track CPU, memory, and disk usage, as well as database growth
  • Execute simple T-SQL scripts and support basic query adjustments
  • Document procedures, routines, and incidents
  • Support the validation of low-impact change scripts
  • Assist development teams with executing scripts and simple queries
  • Follow version control and change management processes and operational best practices
  • Identify alerts related to blocking, job failures, disk space, and outages, escalating to the Mid-Level/Senior team when necessary
  • Support security and audit activities by applying permissions in accordance with defined standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Basic knowledge of SQL Server
  • Familiarity with T-SQL, including queries, joins, filters, and basic functions
  • Introductory understanding of indexes, statistics, and recovery models
  • Ability to follow technical procedures and document activities
  • Willingness to learn about tuning, automation, and troubleshooting
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Information Technology; OR completion of any undergraduate degree accompanied by a certificate of a postgraduate course in Information Technology of at least 360 hours
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana and Azure Monitor
  • Familiarity with DMVs and basic performance analysis
  • Introductory knowledge of Azure cloud environments
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and basic pipelines
