About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Advising mid-sized companies and large enterprises on optimizing SAP licenses and contracts
- Preparing business cases
- Supporting contract negotiations
- Conducting license needs analyses for existing and planned SAP system landscapes
- Advising internal stakeholders on licensing models, usage types, and compliance requirements
- Assessing licensing risks and defining appropriate risk mitigation measures
- Monitoring and managing current SAP license usage, including users, engines, Digital Access, and infrastructure add-ons
- Ensuring compliance with relevant SAP licensing and contractual terms
- Preparing for and supporting SAP measurements (USMM, LAW, PCE Metering) and audits
- Developing and maintaining a continuous license management process
- Identifying savings opportunities and optimizing the license landscape
- Deriving strategic recommendations for future SAP investments
- Assessing new SAP licensing models, such as SAP Cloud ERP Private or Public (RISE / GROW)
- Preparing reports, analyses, and decision papers for management
- Sharing insights on market developments through knowledge management formats
- Sharing knowledge with junior colleagues
Requirements
What you’ll need- In-depth knowledge of the SAP product portfolio (SAP ECC, S/4HANA, SAP Cloud, BTP, SuccessFactors, Ariba, Business AI, etc.)
- Understanding of SAP licensing models (on-premises, cloud, particularly Cloud ERP Public and Private, and Digital Access)
- Experience with SAP contract frameworks (on-premises and cloud) and SAP contract negotiations
- Knowledge of compliance and audit processes (license measurement, SAP LAW, USMM, cloud license measurement, and the STAR framework)
- Basic knowledge of SAP authorization concepts, system architectures, and S/4 migration/transformation approaches
- Basic knowledge of Software Asset Management (SAM) and ITSM processes
- Ability to interpret usage data and derive license requirements
- Experience with cost optimization and scenario modeling (TCO / TVO) for licensing strategies
- Experience supporting negotiations with SAP or resellers
- Experience preparing analyses and management presentations
- Familiarity with SAP tools for license measurement (LAW, USMM, SAP4Me, SAM4U) and, preferably, third-party tools
- Knowledge of data analysis with Excel and presentation development with PowerPoint
- Understanding of system architecture and integration, e.g., in cases of indirect use
- Strong communication skills for coordination with business departments and management
- Project management experience in planning and implementing licensing projects
- Negotiation skills and strategic thinking
- Fluency in written and spoken German and English
