About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advise enterprise clients and large mid-sized companies on cost-effective licensing options and the efficient use of cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
  • Assess the maturity of Software Asset Management, license management, and Cloud FinOps
  • Introduce Software Asset Management roles and processes
  • Determine licensing requirements and prepare and negotiate software license agreements
  • Optimize ongoing Software Asset Management operations
  • Establish Cloud FinOps roles and activities
  • Report on and optimize licensing and cloud costs
  • Deliver training on Software Asset Management and Cloud FinOps
  • Regularly exchange insights with SAM and Cloud FinOps experts on market developments
  • Share knowledge with colleagues
  • Independently take responsibility for interdisciplinary consulting projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completed commercial or technical vocational training (e.g., IT Systems Management Assistant) and/or a bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in (business) computer science, economics, business administration, social sciences, or natural sciences
  • Several years of practical experience in consulting or an in-house role involving Software Asset Management, license management, software vendor management, software contract management, or Cloud FinOps
  • Knowledge of and practical experience applying the licensing terms of at least one of the following vendors: Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, or VMware by Broadcom
  • Experience managing and implementing Software Asset Management projects
  • Experience with common SAM tool solutions on the market (USU, Snow, Flexera, ServiceNow) is desirable
  • Knowledge of and experience with Cloud FinOps, such as frameworks, FOCUS datasets, tooling, and provider-specific expertise in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud—or willingness to develop deeper expertise in this field
  • Knowledge of Cloud FinOps tools, such as Apptio Cloudability, CloudHealth, Flexera Cloud Cost Optimization, AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, or Google Cloud Billing Console, is desirable
  • Strong analytical thinking and a good understanding of business relationships and financial figures
  • Experience calculating business cases and scenarios (TCO / TVO) for licensing strategies
  • Experience supporting negotiations with software vendors or resellers
  • Goal-oriented, self-directed working style combined with a strong team-player mentality
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
