About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and maintain backend services in C#/.NET, Java, and Python
Build front ends in React with TypeScript
Model data, write efficient SQL, and tune queries and schemas for SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
Incrementally modernize legacy applications while keeping production stable
Build and consume REST APIs and third-party or partner integrations
Use AI coding tools and agents according to team standards and review their output
Write unit and integration tests and maintain green CI/CD pipelines
Deploy to and troubleshoot cloud environments, primarily AWS and sometimes Azure
Work directly with client stakeholders to clarify requirements, estimate work, and explain trade-offs
Review peer code and mentor less experienced engineers
Work on client engagements across healthcare, education, insurance, and SaaS, with potential movement between engagements

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of professional software development experience shipping production code
Production experience with modern .NET (6 or later) and working familiarity with .NET Framework
Production experience with Java, ideally Spring or Spring Boot
Ability to write Python services, scripts, and data tooling
Strong React and TypeScript skills, including state management and component design
Solid SQL and relational database design; production experience with SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL
Hands-on daily use of AI coding assistants and ability to evaluate their output
Automated testing experience, such as xUnit, JUnit, pytest, or Jest
Git-based CI/CD workflow experience
Clear communication in professional English with technical and non-technical people
Productive across .NET/C#, Java, Python, React, and relational databases; expert in at least two
Must overlap workday by at least 6 hours with Dallas, Texas, USA
Nice-to-have experience with legacy migrations, Next.js, Node.js, NestJS, AWS infrastructure as code, Docker, NoSQL, caching, regulated domains, LLM APIs, agent frameworks, RAG, technical leadership, SonarQube, or SAST scanners
