About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Virtually manage instructional programs for elementary students
  • Support instructional programs through asynchronous web conferencing and synchronous instruction
  • Complete grading, create progress reports, and conduct parent conferences
  • Communicate with parents, students, and teachers to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules
  • Score assessments, provide feedback, suggest instructional strategies, monitor assignments, and coach special projects
  • Develop broad knowledge of the program curriculum and detailed knowledge of assigned courses
  • Review curriculum and devise alternate lesson presentation approaches
  • Provide students and parents with alternate strategies and assistance with assignments and projects
  • Collaborate with teachers to support student progress and provide parents with a central point of contact
  • Maintain student records, cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance records, and contact logs
  • Develop enrichment activities and modifications to student programs
  • Coordinate social activities and relevant field trips; manage regional field trips and integrate them into the curriculum
  • Create and maintain a virtual school community
  • Participate in State Testing organization and administration
  • Participate in student recruiting sessions and marketing efforts requiring teacher representation
  • Attend field trips and community activities for families
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Qualified and certified to teach the appropriate subject in Michigan
  • Michigan residency required
  • Strong technology skills, especially Microsoft Office products and Google Suite
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and punctual
  • Student- and family-focused approach
  • High degree of flexibility
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player track record
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds
  • Travel to and attendance at in-person events, including State Testing, required throughout the school year; may require overnight travel
  • Ability to work some occasional evening hours
