About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage instructional programs for High School Algebra 1 students
  • Consult regularly with learning coaches and students using telephone, Internet, and curriculum tools
  • Complete grading, create progress reports, and conduct parent conferences
  • Support asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction
  • Review curriculum and devise alternate lesson approaches to increase student understanding
  • Communicate with parents, students, and teachers to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules
  • Score assessments, provide feedback, suggest instructional strategies, monitor assignments, and coach special projects
  • Collaborate with teachers to support student progress, provide parent contact, and distribute tasks
  • Develop general knowledge of the K-12 curriculum and detailed knowledge of assigned courses
  • Provide alternate strategies and additional assistance with assignments and projects
  • Maintain current student records, cumulative files, online information, attendance records, and contact logs
  • Develop enrichment activities and program modifications with teachers and staff learning specialists
  • Coordinate social activities and relevant field trips
  • Manage regional field trips and integrate them into the curriculum
  • Create and maintain a virtual school community
  • Participate in state testing organization and administration
  • Participate in student recruiting sessions and marketing efforts requiring teacher representation
  • Coordinate with Advisory Teachers and the School counselor regarding communications, student progress, and goals
  • Attend field trips and community activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Highly qualified and certified to teach High School Algebra in Ohio, appropriate to grade level and content area responsibilities
  • Strong technology skills, especially with Microsoft OS and MS Office programs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Customer-focused approach
  • High degree of flexibility
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player track record
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for marketing and state testing events, potentially including overnight travel
  • Ability to work remotely, if necessary
  • Ability to work occasional evening hours as needed to support families
