About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Virtually manage instructional programs for high school mathematics students
- Support the instructional program through asynchronous web conferencing and synchronous instruction
- Complete grading, create progress reports, and conduct parent conferences
- Communicate with parents, students, and teachers to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules
- Score assessments, provide feedback, suggest instructional strategies, monitor assignments, and coach special projects
- Develop broad knowledge of the program curriculum and detailed knowledge of assigned courses
- Review curriculum and devise alternate lesson approaches to improve student understanding
- Provide students and parents with alternate strategies and assistance with assignments and projects
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student progress, distribute tasks, and provide a central parent contact
- Maintain current student records, cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance records, and contact logs
- Develop enrichment activities and program modifications
- Coordinate social activities and relevant field trips, including integrating trips into the curriculum
- Create and maintain a virtual school community
- Participate in State Testing organization and administration
- Participate in student recruiting sessions and marketing efforts requiring teacher representation
- Attend field trips and community activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Qualified and certified to teach the appropriate subject in Michigan
- Michigan Residency required
- Strong technology skills, especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Highly organized and punctual
- Student- and family-focused approach
- High degree of flexibility
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Team-player track record
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and diverse community members
- Travel to and attendance at in-person events, including State Testing, required throughout the school year
- Ability to work some occasional evening hours
- Ability to work remotely if necessary
- Must use a personal electronic device and email address for two-step authentication
