About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver engaging English/Language Arts instruction through asynchronous recordings, synchronous LiveLessons, and individualized support sessions
  • Write and maintain standards-aligned lesson plans
  • Provide differentiated instruction and resources, including support for IEPs and 504 Plans
  • Grade assignments and provide timely, constructive, personalized feedback
  • Monitor student performance and develop targeted plans for struggling students
  • Build relationships with students and families
  • Provide individualized academic intervention
  • Participate in MTSS processes using student data
  • Attend meetings for students receiving additional services
  • Maintain records of interventions, communication, and support strategies
  • Advise a caseload of students and conduct regular outreach
  • Update Personal Learning Plans, monitor progress, and support goal setting
  • Communicate with students and guardians by phone, email, and video conferencing
  • Participate in PLCs, staff meetings, professional development, and curriculum discussions
  • Collaborate with colleagues, learning specialists, counselors, families, and community members
  • Plan and supervise school events, graduation, and virtual or in-person field trips
  • Support schoolwide PBIS through modeling, reinforcement, and data-informed interventions
  • Maintain attendance, communication, progress, and IEP/504 compliance records
  • Participate in required assessment administration
  • Support school recruiting and marketing efforts
  • Uphold equitable and inclusive practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Certified to teach Secondary English in Maine
  • Strong technology skills, especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and punctual
  • Student- and family-focused approach
  • High degree of flexibility
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Track record as a team player
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds
  • Willingness to travel for marketing and state testing events, including occasional overnight travel
  • Ability to work occasional evening hours as needed to support families
  • Ability to work remotely
