About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Virtually manage instructional programs for students with special needs from a home office in Florida
Consult regularly with learning coaches and students using telephone, Internet, and curriculum tools
Participate in all steps of the IEP process
Collaborate with teachers and district professionals to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
Provide instructional guidance, virtual teaching, and general strategies for a caseload of students
Develop, write, and help implement IEPs and 504 plans
Evaluate tests and assessments, complete report cards, and conduct parent conferences
Communicate with parents and learning coaches to ensure IEP goals are met and student needs are addressed
Consult with teachers and coordinate specially designed instruction
Provide direct student services through web-conferencing software as needed
Schedule, organize, and conduct IEP-related meetings virtually
Participate in the school’s Student Support Team
Help teachers and learning coaches develop and implement program modifications and strategies
Assist with IEP paperwork, documentation, and procedures
Locate and coordinate service providers and assist with related contracts
Maintain accurate data in the Learning Management System and special education software
Assist with state testing and coordinate IEP-required special adaptations
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Degree in Special Education or related Education Field
Valid Florida Teaching Certificate in Exceptional Student Education K-12 required
Mathematics 6-12 or Elementary Education K-6 certification required
ESOL Certification or Endorsement required
ESE K-12 certification required
Experience in policy (IDEA) and/or administration with Special Education
Strong technology skills, especially with Microsoft Office products
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Customer-focused approach
High degree of flexibility
Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
Team player track record
Willingness and ability to travel across Florida for state testing administration, potentially requiring overnight travel
