About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Evaluate imminent death referrals for organ donation potential
- Manage on-site referral, authorization, donor maintenance, and recovery activities at hospitals with potential donors
- Oversee organ procurement activities from evaluation through recovery and allocation of organs
- Follow donor management guidelines to maximize donor potential
- Engage physicians, practitioners, transplant surgeons, the ConnectLife Medical Director, and the Administrator on call as needed
- Provide ongoing education to administrative and clinical hospital staff about organ donation
- Share information with potential donor families and coordinate authorization with the authorizing individual
- Ensure medical and legal requirements are met before donor surgery
- Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and ConnectLife policies
- Maintain donor records
- Follow up on pre- and post-recovery donor lab work, cultures, autopsies, and related items
- Provide feedback to donor hospitals, donor families, and others
- Participate in Hospital Development activities and Medical Record Review
- Stay current on changes in organ donation and allocation
- Maintain or obtain necessary certifications and education
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate degree or certification in nursing or related health care field required
- Bachelor's degree in a related field strongly preferred
- Minimum of one year emergency medicine or critical care experience strongly preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate with diverse individuals
- Adaptability and flexibility to change
- Critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Continuous focus on customer service
- Medical terminology knowledge
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and data entry
- Detail-oriented and accurate under pressure
