About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monitor cost, schedule, and performance data for CDC IT investments
- Flag variances and risks early and recommend corrective action in leadership reports
- Consult with project teams on EPLC lifecycle requirements, stage gates, and documentation
- Track governance decisions and project artifacts
- Support CDC CPIC data calls and portfolio requests
- Advise on business cases, charters, and project management plans
- Review and validate records in CDC's enterprise systems inventory
- Resolve data quality problems
- Coordinate operational analyses for CDC IT investments
- Collect and validate data, write operational analysis reports, and track completion
- Serve as secretariat for the CDC IT governance council
- Maintain the charter and schedule reviews with council chairs
- Draft agendas and briefing materials
- Write and distribute minutes
- Track action items and gate-review decisions
- Write and maintain standard operating procedures for CPIC, EPLC, governance, and portfolio work
- Propose process improvements
- Develop job aids and training
- Teach CDC staff how CPIC and EPLC work
- Deliver monthly status briefings, an annual summary report, and other contract reports on time and accurately
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree
- Five or more years of IT project or program management experience
- Experience with CDC or other federal IT portfolio management, capital planning, or IT governance
- Working knowledge of CPIC processes and federal IT project management practice
- Experience tracking cost and schedule performance and writing status and variance reports for senior leaders
- Strong writing skills
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to pass a Tier 2 Moderate-Risk Public Trust background investigation
- Ability to obtain a CDC PIV card
- Availability during CDC core hours, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday
- Occasional after-hours support when required
- PMP certification helpful
- Hands-on experience with the EPLC framework and stage-gate reviews helpful
- Prior CDC IT management or governance experience helpful
- Experience preparing IT business cases, capital planning exhibits, or operational analyses helpful
- Experience supporting a governance board or investment review board as secretariat helpful
- Familiarity with CDC tools and systems for IT portfolio tracking and systems inventory helpful
