About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain and troubleshoot automation, instrumentation, communications, SCADA, and related electrical equipment
- Install, inspect, calibrate, and maintain field automation and instrumentation systems
- Diagnose control system issues and restore safe, reliable operation
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance and complete documentation
- Support PLC installation, troubleshooting, and programming updates
- Assist with commissioning new equipment and facilities, including loop checks, logic testing, and SCADA verification
- Create, update, and close maintenance work orders and notifications
- Maintain technical documentation, maintenance records, prints, and project documentation
- Identify recurring issues and support root cause analysis
- Support Management of Change requests
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, vendors, contractors, and peers to improve reliability, safety, and cost effectiveness
- Perform work in compliance with DOT, OSHA, NEC, NFPA, LOTO, and company safety requirements
- Travel regularly to wellsites and facilities, up to 10% annually
- Respond to on-call and emergency situations and work unscheduled overtime as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Current/valid driver's license
- 3 or more years of experience in automation and controls OR electrical systems, including instrumentation, SCADA support, or related field operations
- Working knowledge of maintaining and troubleshooting field automation, communication, and instrumentation equipment OR electrical systems and components
- Must reside or be willing to relocate to an area allowing daily commute to field locations in Loving, Carlsbad, Hobbs, or Artesia, New Mexico
- Able to perform the physical demands and work environment requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to work safely under DOT, OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and company safety requirements
- Preferred: Associate degree, trade certificate, or higher in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Technology, or equivalent
- Preferred: 5 or more years of experience in the automation field
- Preferred experience with PLCs, HMIs, and automation platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Emerson ROC, ABB, IDEC, SCADAPack, or similar
- Preferred experience with cellular modems, radios, and network switches
- Knowledge of electrical systems, NEC, and safe work practices
- Ability to read and apply control narratives, cause-and-effect documentation, PID concepts, and P&IDs
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to communicate technical findings clearly
- Ability to meet physical demands including climbing up to 50 feet and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather and independently for extended periods
- Willingness to wear required PPE
- Ability to work Monday-Friday, rotating on-call responsibilities, emergency response, and unscheduled overtime
