About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare patients for doctors’ evaluations and assist clinical providers with examinations
- Obtain and document vital signs, past medical and social history, chief complaints, medication lists, and patient information in EMR systems
- Prepare charts, perform screenings, blood pressure and respiration checks, and other patient-care duties
- Assist physicians with practice workflow, exam rooms, supplies, patient requests, blood draws, and point-of-care testing
- Follow treatment instructions and report patient reactions, symptoms, and complaints
- Manage practice workflow to support timely appointments and reduce provider wait times
- Schedule initial evaluations, follow-up appointments, and cancellations
- Make appointment reminder calls professionally and courteously
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, OSHA, legal requirements, and company policies
- Perform administrative duties including answering phones, faxing, filing, greeting patients, and other office tasks
- Inventory, order, receive, sort, store, and restock supplies and exam/procedure rooms
- Maintain infection-control, safety, and confidentiality standards
- Perform other duties as requested by providers, coordinators, and management
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred; minimum 6 months experience required
- Familiar with EKG, Phlebotomy and Patient Care
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
- CPR certified
- Experience on EHR and EMR systems; Athena preferred
- Knowledge of pre-authorizations and referrals
- Ability to clearly communicate medical information to professional practitioners and/or the general public
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Good interpersonal skills, sense of urgency, being proactive and ownership for one’s work
- Dependable, with strong work ethic and extremely high degree personal integrity
- Ability to deal with multiple interruptions on a continual basis that must be met with a friendly exchange with others
- Helpful and constructive view of working with others to achieve positive outcomes
- Taking responsibility and being accountable for your own actions
