About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, and evolve robust, high-performance, and maintainable Python backend services
Develop APIs and application components using Python, FastAPI, and Pydantic
Implement service-based and event-driven architectures, particularly with RabbitMQ
Develop asynchronous and high-performance processes with AsyncIO
Design and optimize integrations with SQL Server and PostgreSQL
Implement code quality best practices, automated testing, and CI/CD
Collaborate with DevOps, Data Engineering, Architecture, and Development teams
Participate in refactoring and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure the operational stability of applications and services
Analyze and resolve complex technical incidents and issues
Diagnose malfunctions and identify their root causes
Track service requests and support users and stakeholders
Contribute to the reliability, security, performance, and scalability of applications
Improve monitoring, logging, and alerting
Participate in code reviews and share best practices
Support and challenge less experienced developers

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 6 years of software development experience, including a minimum of 3 years with Python
Strong command of Python for backend service development
Experience with FastAPI or a similar backend framework, as well as Pydantic
Strong knowledge of asynchronous programming with AsyncIO
Experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL Server
Experience with RabbitMQ and event-driven architectures
Good understanding of service-based architectures, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and software development best practices
Knowledge of Docker and cloud environments, particularly Azure, is an advantage
Experience with NoSQL solutions is a plus
Good understanding of IT security considerations, ideally in critical environments
Ability to work with existing code and participate in refactoring initiatives
Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
Good command of French and/or Dutch, as well as a good level of English
Knowledge of German is a plus
