About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop project cost estimates for transmission line, substation, generation interconnection, and other capital projects
- Evaluate project plans, specifications, drawings, quantities, labor, equipment, and material costs
- Identify cost risks, scope gaps, estimating inconsistencies, and project alternatives
- Lead or participate in estimate reviews, workshops, challenge sessions, stage-gate reviews, and audits
- Perform estimate risk analysis, contingency modeling, validation, and historical cost analysis
- Develop and enhance estimating methodologies, standards, cost models, templates, tools, databases, applications, and benchmarking practices
- Analyze market trends, labor productivity, escalation, material pricing, labor conditions, and emerging technologies
- Provide pre-construction support and technical expertise to project management
- Review subcontractor quotes and resolve estimating issues with supply chain, engineering, project management, construction, permitting, and real estate stakeholders
- Conduct field visits and attend pre- and post-bid meetings as required
- Transfer completed estimates and bid documents to the Project Management team
- Maintain cost estimating metrics and support performance measurement, trend analysis, forecasting, and decision-making
- Present estimate assumptions, risks, recommendations, costs, and variances to management, project sponsors, and project owners
- Provide oversight and quality assurance for junior estimators; mentor, train, coach, and develop estimators
- Represent ITC in industry working groups, benchmarking studies, and professional estimating organizations
- Provide expert testimony, technical support, and negotiation assistance for claims, change orders, contract disputes, and regulatory filings
- Drive continuous improvement of estimating tools, systems, digital solutions, and data governance practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education
- Intermediate: Minimum of two (2) years of related experience
- Senior: Minimum of six (6) years of related experience
- Principal: Minimum of ten (10) years of related experience
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of electrical utilities cost estimating depending on the level of the position
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of construction project cash flow forecasting depending on the level of the position
- Strong understanding of project management and project controls processes, including construction scheduling, cost estimating, and cash flow forecasting
- Sound analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and in a team environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines
- Ability to learn and use job-specific software
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer; ITC does not sponsor employment visas such as H-1B or TN visas
- Electrical and civil Engineering experience/knowledge preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI preferred
