About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Communicate ITC safety rules, practices, procedures, and expectations to employees and contractors
- Design, develop, and implement health and safety programs and procedures
- Ensure facilities comply with applicable regulations
- Conduct studies and investigations regarding government safety and health laws, standards, and regulations
- Conduct jobsite audits, Energy-Based Evaluations, and reviews to measure contractor compliance
- Lead regularly scheduled meetings with assigned contractors or employees to review observations, incidents, and trends
- Provide safety performance measures
- Conduct follow-up investigations and determine root causes of events
- Maintain professional relationships with outside agencies such as Edison Electric Institute, National Safety Council, and other safety-related agencies
- Represent the company safety program internally and externally
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with assigned contractors
- Represent the Manager when needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in a related field with a minimum of six (6) years of experience in safety or construction management, or a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in safety or construction management, including a combination of work experience, education and training relevant to the essential duties and responsibilities of this job
- Professional certification (e.g. Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, Construction/Occupational Health and Safety Technician, Certified Utility Safety Professional, Power Line Safety Specialist)
- Electric utility industry experience preferred
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision and strong self-motivation to drive results
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to analyze and convey complex information clearly, concisely, and effectively
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergency situations on a 24-hour basis
- Ability to travel, including some overnight stays
- Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer
- ITC does not sponsor employment visas, such as H-1B or TN visas
