About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and manage client engagements within contracted scope and budget.
- Support department colleagues, Senior Consultants, Associate Directors, and Directors.
- Develop the service line, create intellectual property, achieve strategic objectives, and train and mentor junior team members.
- Assist with business development activities and the UK and Europe growth strategy.
- Build new and existing client relationships.
- Identify and pursue business opportunities.
- Respond to RFPs and determine, scope, write, and price fee proposals.
- Lead, manage, and design engagements including technical security reviews, audits, design surveys, installation inspections, and approvals.
- Work at client sites and in the office.
- Design physical and electronic security systems with specialist engineers from other organisations.
- Produce reports, specifications, and drawings through all RIBA Plan of Work stages.
- Own problems and provide problem-solving solutions.
- Lead and participate in client and project meetings as a trusted advisor.
- Ensure practices, policies, strategy, and services represent clients’ best interests.
- Maintain financial forecasting, project planning, resource planning, and financial reporting.
- Maintain time and expense records for accurate monthly invoicing.
- Manage, mentor, and develop colleagues.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experienced physical security design consultant with thorough experience leading and managing engagements to a professional standard.
- Membership in a security-related institute.
- A security-related qualification.
- Thorough knowledge of current national and international standards and installation practices.
- Thorough knowledge and experience designing physical security systems, including fencing, gates, walls, doors, and facades.
- Experience delivering physical and electronic security design consulting across all RIBA Plan of Work stages, across multiple built-environment sectors in the UK and Europe.
- Substantial project management experience relating to security consulting and installations within the built environment.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and client-management skills.
- Proven experience assisting, reviewing, and providing feedback to team members and improving output.
- Experience building effective client relationships.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Regional on-the-ground experience in Western Europe.
- Certified relevant security industry qualifications.
- Experience using design-related software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and MS Project.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Security or engineering qualifications preferred.
- ASIS PSP or similar security design-related qualification preferred.
- People leadership skills, including the ability to inspire and drive the performance of a team of security professionals.
