About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and ship full-stack features on active LoopTech products
  • Use agentic development tools such as Claude Code and similar AI coding assistants, with prompt engineering
  • Conduct data collection, preparation, and curation for model training, evaluation, and analytics
  • Assist in building and running evaluation harnesses for AI models and agents, including error analysis and reporting
  • Lead and participate in rapid prototyping sessions for company-use proof-of-concepts
  • Package work as minimal, runnable demos
  • Present working software at team demos and the capstone presentation
  • Document approaches and share work with the organization
  • Participate in team discussions, brainstorming, knowledge sharing, user experiments, and pilot projects
  • Collaborate with engineers and researchers and contribute to responsible AI practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript
  • Working git fluency
  • Familiarity with web application fundamentals, including APIs, databases, and modern frontend frameworks
  • Interest in large language models and applied AI
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts, data preprocessing, or frameworks such as PyTorch is a plus but not required
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with high autonomy and in a team
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges in the AI field
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Interest in a career in the Life Sciences field
  • Willingness to take initiative
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Student entering Junior or Senior year the following fall semester or entering graduate school; candidates graduating the spring semester before the internship are also eligible
  • Proof of enrollment, including pre-registration certification for the following fall
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred
  • Interest in disciplines such as Computer Science, Data Science, Informatics, Software Engineering, Computer/Electrical Engineering, and related fields
