About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Review and approve purchase requisitions
Identify potential suppliers and issue requests for quotations
Analyze and select suppliers and issue purchase orders
Follow up on and expedite purchase orders as necessary
Develop, evaluate and manage supplier relationships to achieve material cost, availability and inventory goals
Investigate and qualify suppliers
Track industry, competitor, high-performing company and worldwide economic trends and assess their business impact
Support production and new production introduction activity as a member or materials resource on product development teams
Analyze and correct price discrepancies using accounting business partnerships
Leverage management input to achieve target levels and maximize profit margins
May oversee project and assignment completion, including planning, assigning, monitoring, reviewing progress and accuracy, and evaluating results
Contribute to employees' professional development without hiring or firing authority

Requirements

What you’ll need

Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older
Must pass pre-employment assessment(s) if applicable
Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline and generally 5-8 years of experience in related field; certification is required in some areas
Alternatively, MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in related field; certification is required in some areas
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems
Ability to make decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information
Ability to independently perform assignments with limited instruction
Ability to plan, assign, monitor and review project or assignment work when applicable
Ability to travel overnight less than 10% of the time
Must be able to perform work primarily sitting, with occasional movement or lifting of light articles
