About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the creation and rollout of the enterprise-wide data governance strategy
  • Align data governance with business goals and regulatory requirements
  • Define and maintain data standards, taxonomies, and metadata management practices
  • Partner with engineering teams to implement data quality monitoring tools and automated validation processes
  • Establish data ownership and stewardship models across departments
  • Drive compliance with data privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA and internal security policies
  • Facilitate data governance councils and working groups
  • Foster a culture of accountability and data literacy
  • Monitor and report on data governance KPIs, highlighting improvements and areas for action
  • Architect the data trust framework to ensure data is accurate, secure, and accessible to the right people

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or demonstrated equivalent experience in a related field required
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles
  • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK) and best practices
  • Hands-on experience with governance and catalog tools
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to translate governance principles into practical, scalable solutions
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Purview Unified Catalog, Data Map, lineage, classification, sensitivity labels, glossary, data product curation, metadata management, and governance workflows across cloud, on-premises, and SaaS data assets
  • Practical understanding of Microsoft Fabric and Power BI governance, including Fabric workspaces, OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Dataflows Gen2, pipelines, semantic models, Power BI reports, endorsement/certification practices, workspace security, data access controls, and governed self-service analytics
  • Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, SQL, data lineage capture, pipeline monitoring, data quality rules, validation controls, role-based access, and integration patterns that support trusted, auditable data delivery
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • Must not require current or future work authorization sponsorship
