About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Join a backend team of three engineers and report to the Lead Engineer
Split time between extending current integrations and owning new integrations
Work on document automation, a core product capability used by lawyers to generate precedents and documents
Design, develop, and maintain backend software solutions using C# and .NET
Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs, backend services, integrations, and event-driven solutions on AWS using Lambda, SQS, and S3
Apply agile methodologies, automated testing, code reviews, and CI/CD
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and implement scalable, maintainable solutions
Contribute to improvements in development practices, architecture, tooling, and engineering standards

Requirements

What you’ll need

3–5 years' commercial software engineering experience, with a strong focus on backend development
Strong commercial experience building backend services and APIs in C# and .NET
Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs with .NET, preferably .NET 10
Experience designing relational database schemas and data models, preferably with AWS RDS or Amazon Aurora MySQL
Experience with event-driven solutions, preferably using Amazon SQS, S3, and AWS Lambda
Experience with AI-assisted development and tooling, including MCP servers, structured prompting, and development of AI tools and skills
Experience integrating workspace APIs, preferably Microsoft Graph and Google Gmail APIs
Experience with server-side document generation and modification using Aspose or similar
Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and integration patterns
Preferred: integration with Microsoft Graph and Microsoft 365 services including Outlook, Calendar, and OneDrive
Preferred: integration with Google APIs, particularly Google Workspace services including Gmail, Calendar, and Drive
Preferred: macOS application development and supporting applications and services on Mac
Ability to work autonomously once given clear direction
Ability to ask questions early, remain calm under pressure, and own projects end to end
