About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support preparation of Invitation to Tenders (ITTs) and assist with analysis of tender returns
- Assist in benchmarking contractor and supplier submissions to ensure value for money
- Support review and administration of contract terms and conditions
- Assist in evaluating framework agreements and identifying commercial improvement and efficiency opportunities
- Review variations and cost proposals under guidance of senior commercial team members
- Support value engineering initiatives
- Work with the client's supply chain team, project teams and contractors on procurement and commercial objectives
- Assist in monitoring contract performance and identifying potential commercial risks or issues
- Maintain commercial records, notifications and contract documentation
- Support preparation of reports, cost analyses and commercial documentation
- Develop understanding of construction contracts and their practical application
- Maintain awareness of relevant health and safety requirements and their commercial implications
- Contribute as a member of an integrated project and commercial team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Holds an RICS/CICES accredited degree, or enrolled on an accredited part-time postgraduate degree with relevant experience
- Must be able to obtain and retain security clearance
- Minimum 3 years residence in the UK
- Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Practical and methodical approach with strong attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and develop commercial, contractual and procurement knowledge
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
- Relevant commercial experience within construction, infrastructure, or engineering is desirable, typically 1 to 3 years through a junior commercial role, placement year, internship, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience
- Understanding of construction contracts and project management systems is desirable
- Working towards Professional Membership of either RICS or CICES is desirable
