About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Take ownership of design and associated activities within an assigned section of the SPA programme of works
- Produce or review specifications, calculations, drawings and 3D models
- Confirm applicable quality, safety and technical requirements have been addressed
- Lead, support or independently review construction-site and supply-chain design queries and change requests
- Process responses through applicable change-control arrangements
- Review and ensure completion of design CDM deliverables
- Coordinate design interactions with delivery, procurement and commercial teams
- Offer alternative solutions to ensure health and safety compliance and achieve best whole-life cost solutions
- Provide technical knowledge and experience to the SPA Alliance
- Develop or review civil design decisions considering capital cost, operating cost, risk, programme, carbon and whole-life value
- Work with Anglian Water representatives to understand project and asset requirements
- Provide evidence-based advice or challenge to standards, proven designs and proposed departures through governance processes
- Interface with GI, Utilities and Environmental teams
- Contribute to CDM and commissioning strategy meetings
- Seek innovative technologies and processes
- Lead or support adoption of offsite manufacture, modular construction, standard products and repeatable solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Chartered in engineering or equivalent background
- Civil engineering degree or equivalent
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
- Track record in design of a section of the works
- Experience designing elements typically associated with a Non-Infrastructure site, including drainage and highway design
- Strong technical understanding of civils Non-Infrastructure design, preferably clean water
- High degree of integrity
- Ownership and accountability for outputs
- Commitment to continuously improving ways of working
- Driving required
- Security clearance not required
