About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work with stakeholders to develop and manage programmes
- Complete programme updates and reporting internally and externally
- Work with the QS team to cost load the existing programme of works
- Manage subcontractor plans and feed updates into the overall programme
- Develop breakdown structures, quality criteria, product descriptions and monitoring strategy
- Enquire, record and test project assumptions to ensure plans are realistic and achievable
- Interface and integrate regularly with the project controls team to maintain an aligned financial position with the Project Plan
- Support the project manager with resource smoothing, resource levelling and activity rescheduling to optimise delivery
- Identify wider resource requirements for project delivery
- Ensure stakeholder requirements are understood and addressed in reporting arrangements
- Advise on planning processes throughout the project lifecycle
- Support capability building and best practice in planning and reporting
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths
- Primavera (P6) trained and experienced
- Experience in building cost and resource loaded plans
- Experience and understanding of Earned Value Analysis as a reporting tool
- High level of numeracy and excellent analytical skills
- Excellent MS Office skills
- Driving required
- Security clearance required
- HNC/HND, degree qualified or experience in a planning related discipline (desirable)
- APMG International Project Planning and Control Practitioner or equivalent (desirable)
- PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) (desirable)
- Experience or understanding in interpreting estimating, scheduling, programming and risk tools (desirable)
- Relevant experience in Project Controls and/or Project Delivery, preferably in a highly regulated environment (desirable)
- Comfortable working at least 3 days per week from either the Costain Manchester Office or Trawsfynydd Site, with travel required between the two
