About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage client interface meetings and report progress and costs to the CMDP Project Manager and Commercial Team representative
Manage, supervise, train, and mentor site teams
Manage health and safety and quality data with the site team for reporting
Review contractual agreements and develop working methods, programmes, and forecast costs with the client, Contracts Manager, and specialists/suppliers
Manage and undertake internal project reviews
Develop programmes and forecast budgets; assess actual programme performance and productivity weekly and take corrective action
Maintain familiarity with specialists’ contract conditions
Manage resources and specialist provision to prevent delays to the construction programme
Communicate non-conformances and contractual correspondence to the Contracts Manager, site team, and commercial team
Maintain comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works
Ensure accurate daily site diaries, including changes, variations, specialist attendance, and work-related discussions
Review, approve, and ensure adherence to inspection and test plans, risk assessments, and method statements
Supervise site teams and liaise with internal and external stakeholders
Manage design partners in delivering project specifications and deliverables
Ensure overall delivery of contracts within the allocated portfolio
Adhere to Costain policies, procedures, health and safety policies, and environmental policies

Requirements

What you’ll need

Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering
Understanding of Engineering Principles
Knowledge and understanding of construction contract law and forms of contract through experience and formal training
Extensive technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices
Computer competence with MS Word, Excel, document control systems, and Primavera software
Relevant CSCS Card
Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management
Current Driving Licence
Experience of resource management and workforce efficiency
Experience of NEC3 or NEC4
Water industry experience (desirable)
Degree in Civil Engineering (desirable)
MICE (desirable)
MAPM (desirable)
Vocational training with successful project management experience (desirable)
