About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support delivery of nuclear industry projects across all stages of the nuclear fuel cycle
  • Work with the existing design team on feasibility studies, reference designs and detailed designs
  • Prepare reports, technical specifications and proposals for local and regional clients
  • Lead small projects and sub-tasks from a technical perspective
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed design analyses, calculations, specifications and documentation for civil and structural works
  • Communicate designs to BIM teams
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and construction teams
  • Communicate with clients
  • Challenge and deliver value engineering solutions
  • Support and guide junior team members
  • Work from Manchester 2–3 days per week with regular visits to a site near Chester

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum BEng Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Chartership or Incorporated with ICE or IStructE
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance
  • Proven UK experience within the nuclear industry
  • Good knowledge of UK design working practices and installation requirements of the discipline
  • Awareness of risk identification, quantification, management and HSE requirements
  • Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance
  • UK National or minimum of 5 years UK Residency
  • Nuclear Industry recognised training and qualifications (desirable)
  • Currently holding Security Clearance (desirable)
  • CSCS or CCNSG (desirable)
  • Knowledge of C&S elements of pumped systems, such as fire and potable water (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Urenco standards and processes (desirable)
  • Experience with new and historic structures, including optioneering assessments (desirable)
  • Experience in leading small teams and supporting more junior engineers (desirable)
  • Knowledge and experience of common forms of contracts (desirable)
  • Project Management experience (desirable)
  • Requirements Management experience (desirable)
  • Driving required
